Dear God:
Today, I am thankful for a new prayer.
Let us take care of the children,
for they have a long way to go.
Let us take care of the elders,
for they have come a long way.
Let us take care of those in between
for they are doing the work.
~African prayer
Simple. Compassionate. Easy to memorize. Meaningful to my life.
To personalize the prayer, I add these lines:
Let us take care of the animals - wild and domestic,
For they join us in our journey.
Let us take care of the Earth,
for she must sustain us all.
For this blessing, I am grateful.
Amen.
