Dear God:
Today, I am thankful for a full pantry.
While so many Americans wonder where their next meal will come from, I am a bit embarrassed by the amount of food we have in the pantry, refrigerator and freezer. In spite of our history of job losses and financial challenges, we have never gone hungry. I've always been able to buy the organic fruits and vegetables and "natural" meats we prefer.
So, this year, we've been donating to local charities that run food banks and Meals-on-Wheels programs. In our rich (and very wasteful) country, no one should go hungry.
For this blessing, I am truly grateful.
Amen.
