Thursday, 2 June 2005 - Mirabilis multifloris

Dear God:

Today, I am thankful for Mirabilis multiflorus (Wild Four O'clock), the soon-to-be latest addition to my garden.

I ordered six from my favorite mail order gardening center, High Country Gardens. I chose this plant for several reasons:
  • it grows well in our Colorado clay soil
  • it's very pretty, bearing hundreds of magental pink flowers when mature
  • it's extremely xeric, deer and rabbit resistent (a requirement of any front yard plant when you live in the Rocky Mountain foothills), and loves sun and heat

I think I'll plant three in the front yard, two in the backyard and give one to my neighbor and fellow gardening enthusiast, Kathleen.

For this blessing, I am grateful.

Amen.

I too, am grateful for Miribilis Multiflorus. I live in Southern Utah and it is one f the few plants that can grow in my clay soil. It also happens to be the nickname that we have given my family.
