Saturday, 21 April 2007 - Wild violets

Dear God:

Today, I am thankful for wild violets.

I adore the wild violets that grow in the front yard. Despite the difficult growing conditions, they return year after year. I admire their resiliency and determination to truly bloom where they're planted (a lesson for me).

I find them in unlikely places: in the seam that separates the cement gutter from the street's asphalt (top photo), around the wooden mailbox post (bottom photo), along the crack in the driveway.

Wild violets. They're mere presence makes a garden.

For this blessing, I am grateful.

Amen.
