Tuesday, 15 May 2007 - Planting time

Dear God:

Today, I am thankful for planting time.

As of today, the probability of another hard freeze in our region is near zero. Gardeners throughout Colorado Springs are rejoicing (do you hear them?) Planting time is officially here - finally! I am concentrating on landscaping the backyard since the front yard garden has few vacancies this year.

I actually cheated a bit, planting a lilac bush and motherwort on Sunday. Still, I need to find a sunny spot for watermelon and butternut squash. The tomato seedlings are ready to be transplanted into large containers. And, now's the time to sow mesclun, basil and parsley seeds.

For this blessing, I am grateful.

Amen.
