Saturday, 30 April 2005 - Quiet Saturday morning on the trail

Dear God:

Today, I am thankful for a quiet Saturday morning on the trail.

No trucks rumbling up the side road to the quarry, no garbage trucks navigating the streets, no school buses or cars or motorcycles. Just the sound of my boots crunching ice, T's paws kicking pebbles, and birds singing a morning hymn. Every now and then I hear the creek carrying run-off to lower ground and the wind rustling scrub oak branches. I welcome the silence, the solitude, the distinct feeling of time standing still for just a moment as I catch the world waking up.

For this blessing, I am grateful.

Amen.
