Dear God:
Today, I am thankful for quiet memories as I remember my niece, Elizabeth, 1990-1993.
The leaves of memory
seemed to make
A mournful rustling in the dark.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I study each picture in the small stack of photographs that chronicle Elizabeth's short life. My mother had the foresight to capture the moments and share them with me. In a few days, I plan to send them to her parents. Not because I don't want them. I just don't need them to help me remember. My heart will never let her go.
For this blessing, I am grateful.
Amen.
